TechLit: Caltech's Creative Writing Group

Are you planning to write the next Pulitzer-prize-winning novel, if only you can find the time? Join TechLit, Caltech’s new creative writing group, where graduate and undergraduate students who enjoy creative writing can come together to work on and improve their awesome short stories, poems, memoirs, or novels. Pizza and soft drinks will be provided to fuel the creative process.

Meetings

First Saturday of each month from 5-8 PM
Sherman-Fairchild Library (SFL) room 326
(or via Zoom at 6:30 PM during the 'stay at home' order)

A typical TechLit meeting is structured as follows:
  • 15 minutes of eating and socializing.
  • Members can read excerpts of their original writing to the group.
  • Free writing time for members to work on their current creative projects.
  • Members break into assigned critique groups and discuss each other’s work, which they have read beforehand and marked with suggestions for improvement.
  • Members can stay afterward to continue writing until 8 PM.
Once per term, we plan to bring local authors to the club to read excerpts of their work, give writing + publishing tips, and answer questions in an informal Q&A format.
Don't forget to bring a laptop or pen + paper to write with! E-mail us at techlit-info@caltech.edu if you have any questions. Hope to see you there! Visit https://techlit.clubs.caltech.edu/ for more information.
