General Submission Guidelines
- We accept submissions from any member of the Caltech community including undergraduates, grad students, professors, staff, and alumni.
- You may submit as many pieces as you would like in as many categories as you would like.
- If your submission is selected for publication, you may choose to be listed as anonymous. Submissions can be made anonymously by contacting any staff member and having them forward your submission to the rest of the staff. The staff member you contact will be the only member who is aware of your identity.
- Any submissions may be posted on the website.
- Please e-mail submissions to the Totem email.
Photography & Art
- We prefer scans or digital photographs of hardcopies (because we need to convert to digital media in order to print).
- We may ask for higher resolution photographs of art if needed.
- Hardcopies may be submitted to an editor to be photographed and returned.
Poetry & Prose
- Poetry, prose poetry, plays, and short stories are all welcome.
- Please keep short stories to <6 pages.
- Preferred file types: .doc, .txt, .pdf
Feel free to e-mail questions and concerns to Totem, or any editor.
Please note:
All submissions are evaluated by the Totem staff. Your submissions must be your original work, and may not violate any intellectual property rights. If the work you are submitting has been previously published, please let us know. By sending in your submission you are authorizing Totem to publish and distribute your submitted work at our discretion. For more information on copyright legalities, please send us an e-mail.
